Our vision at the Temecula Conservatory of Music (#TCM) is to create a high quality, grass roots music program for our children and youth right here in Temecula including a Youth Symphony and Youth Orchestras. My experiences with music began 40 years ago when my teacher handed me a cardboard violin made out of a cereal box and a stick for a bow. I had the wonderful opportunity of performing in a youth orchestra as a 7th grader and eventually played in the city symphony. In high school there was no orchestra so I joined choir and found that I had a love for choral music as well.
After getting the opportunity to teach middle school orchestra, I yearned for a university type setting for kids ages 6-18 where every student in the orchestra has a designated private teacher. I believe this is what sets us apart. All of our students in every orchestra have a one-on-one private lesson each week with a professionally trained teacher. This creates a symbiotic relationship where private lessons and orchestra work together to help all students progress at a very rapid pace. We have seen students progress from playing Twinkle Twinkle Little Star to playing songs from book 6 in the Suzuki books in just 2 years. Our Chamber Orchestra is made up of students in Suzuki books 4-8 and each semester the students continue to progress quickly. In four years we have gone from two beginning violin classes to students accompanying adults and professional musicians playing "The Messiah" and being invited to play at the 2019 Carnegie Hall Music Festival. With most of these students on average being 13 years old we have very high hopes over the next few years as they continue to improve. We have also added lessons for woodwinds, brass and percussion to fulfill our vision from four years ago of a high level Youth Symphony.
Please come join the vision! Come join the amazing musical journey with us!
It truly is time to find the genius musicians among us!
