This Spring TCM will be offering a beginning violin class with our amazing owner/director Brad Bohn teaching the class. There will be two class times based on the age of the students participating. Students ages 5-10 will meet from 4-4:45pm and students ages 11-18 will meet from 5-5:45pm. The first class is March 1st. Registration for this class is Wednesday Febuary 15th at 5pm in Suite 300.
We teach the Pascale Method..This amazing method was created by Susan Pascale, the director of the LA Children's Orchestra. This workbook is for ages 5 to 18 years of age and is included with tuition. The young students love the six pages of stickers and the 30+ videos that help them learn. By the end of the class students should be able to play the violin with correct technique and be proficient at playing Twinkle Twinkle Little Star.
Students of our beginning class will have the opportunity to perform at our 2023 Spring Concert on Saturday, May 13th. This concert includes our three youth orchestras: Junior Orchestra, Youth Orchestra and Chamber Orchestra. The beginners will be given front seats together for the entirety of the concert. The concert will begin with them playing Twinkle, Twinkle Little Start together with Brad Bohn and then playing it again with the Chamber Orchestra backing them up playing a Symphony Style version of Twinkle Twinkle Little Star written by Brad Bohn called "Twinkle, Twinkle Symphony". By the end of the concert they will know what it feels like to stand up in front of a large crowd and play!
Following the class we recommend students begin weekly private lessons with one of our amazing violin teachers and join our TCM Junior Orchestra in August. That is where the fun is ratcheted up several notches. Because the goal after all is to have fun!
On registration day (February 15th at 5:00pm in Suite 300) parents will fill out billing paperwork, pay tuition and for those students that need to rent an instrument we will size them for a violin rental. Violin rentals include a $50 setup fee plus the first months rent ($25). The tuition is $225 for the 10 week course. A final cost is a "Kun" shoulder rest which each student will need to purchase before the first day of class. There are different sized shoulder rests but all can be purchased for Amazon.com for from $18 to $25.
